The San Francisco Giants are calling up former Boston Red Sox hall of famer Carl Yastrzemski's grandson Mike Yastrzemski.
Yastrzemski has been down in AAA Sacramento and hitting .316 with 12 homers and 25 RBIs in 136 plate appearances. He has appeared in 45 games in the outfield with the majority of his time in center field.
He came over in a trade from the Baltimore Orioles for pitcher Tyler Herb in March. Herb is 0-2 in 3 games with a 9.95 ERA totaling 14 strikeouts and 4 walks for AA Bowie.
Mac Williamson will be designated for assignment. He had countless chances to show that he can perform at a major league level, but injuries and inefficiency cost him. Since his return, Mac has been hitting .118 with a homer and 7 RBIs in 51 plate appearances with 18 strikeouts and 5 walks. Williamson was called up on May 7 and had a homer and 4 RBIs against Colorado but since then he has had just 4 hits and struck out 18 times including 5 in Thursday's loss to Atlanta. If Williamson clears waivers on this go around, then he has the choice of becoming a free agent and can sign with any team, the Giants could even trade him.
