Matt Fiers will take the ball for the A's and try to help them get the sweep. Friers is 1-1 in 4 starts on the year with 7 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings but has an ERA of 6.96 with 6 homers given up. The Nova Southeastern University alum was 15-4 in 33 starts for the A's last year with a 3.90 ERA. Fiers will face the Giants for the 5th time (4th start) and look for his first victory against them. He is 0-3 with a 3.72 ERA totaling 20 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings while allowing just 4 walks.
