The Giants had the bases loaded early in the bottom of the first when Austin Slater walked, and Donovan Solano and Mike Yastrzemski both singled with 0 outs. Wilmer Flores struck out and Evan Longoria grounded into an inning-ending double play to end the threat. They had the bases loaded again when Hunter Pence walked and Joey Bart doubled as Mauricio Dubon walked as well. Darin Ruf struck out ad Donovan Solano lined out to end another threat. For Bart, he is the 10th Giant since 1901 with an extra-base hit in each of his first 2 MLB games since Brett Pill did it in 2011. Wilmer Flores walked with 1 out in the bottom of the 3rd and Evan Longoria launched his 300th career home run to the left-field seats to give the Giants a 2-0 lead. Mike Yastrzemski walked to lead off the bottom of the 5th after the Diamondbacks tied the game at 2-2 and then Wilmer Flores hit his team-leading 7th home run of the year to make it a 4-2 game. The Giants had 3 players with at least 2 hits on the night as they finished with 10 total.

The Arizona Diamondbacks wished Madison Bumgarner wasn't injured to give the team an edge and snap the Giants win streak. Instead, Robbie Ray was finished after5 innings and allowed 4 runs off 7 hits with 8 strikeouts and walked 5 batters on the night. Christian Walker lined his 11th double of the season with 1 out to open the top of the 4th and then scored on a David Peralta double to cut the Giants lead to 1 run. Peralta then scored on an Eduardo Escobar single to tie the game at 2-2. Walker led all Arizona hitters with a 4-4 night which included 2 doubles, but the team had only 7 hits on the night going 2-5 with 4 runners left in scoring position.
