Webb on the mound as Giants go for sweep

The Giants offense exploded last night for 23 runs and today will look for more of the same as they go for a 2 game sweep. Logan Webb takes the mound today in the rubber match against the Rockies and will look for his 2nd victory against them this season. He faced them on August 5th going 5 innings and allowedf 2 runs (1 arned) off 4 hits with 4 strikeouts while recoreding 0 walks. Although Webb has just a small sample size of big league experiecne under his belt, he has a recorfd of 3-2 in 8 career starts away from Oracle Park. The Giants sit at 18-19 and if they pull off a win today, they will be at .500 for the first time in exactly a month when they were 5-5.

Kyle Freeland will take the mound for the Rockies after their bullpen was abliterated last night. Freeland is 2-1 in 7 starts this year with a 3.43 ERA totaling just 26 strikeouts in 42 innings of work. Today he will face the Giants for a 2nd time this year after having a no decision against the Giants on August 6th. The Rockies got the win but Freeland was done after 6 2/3 innings with 3 earned runs off 8 hits and struck out and walked a pair of batters each. The Universiry of Evansville alum has not recorded a win since August 3rd and has gone 0-1 with 4 no decisions in that span. He has struck out 17 batters and walked 4 while having an ERA of 4.20 and the Rockies haven't been able to back him up going 2-3.
