Tromp's bat caps Giants big win

Chadwick Tromp came to the Giants over the offseason on a minor league deal and before that, he was in the Red organization. He was never brought up while with the Reds but had 281 hits in the minors but has 0 major league hits, tonight was different for Tromp. He has been splitting catching time behind the dish with Tyler Heineman while Buster Posey opted out this year. Evan Longoria doubled to open the bottom of the 2nd inning after the Giants were already trailing 1-0 and took 3rd on a Donovan Solano line out. Darin Ruf singled him in to tie the game for his 2nd RBI on the year. Tromp came up in the bottom of the 5th and singled for his first big league hit and then went to 3rd base on a Mauricio Dubon single. Two batters later Wilmer Flores scored both runners with a 3-run home run to give the lead at 4-2. San Francisco added on in the bottom of the 6th when Darin Ruf walked and scored on a Chadwick Tromp double. Mauricio Dubon again followed Tromp, with an RBI single of his own to push the game to 6-2. Wimer Flores walked to get the bottom of the 7th underway, he took 2nd base on a wild pitch that Hunter Pence struck out on. Evan Longoria walked with 2 outs as Donovan Solano singled in Flores and then Ruf doubled in Longoria and Solano to make it a 9-2 game. Flores and Ruf each had 3 RBIs on the night as three other Giants players had 2 hits apiece including Chadwick Trump. Giants starter Logan Webb tossed 3 2/3 innings and allowed just 2 runs (1 earned) with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts apiece. Once Webb departed, the Giants bullpen allowed just 2 baserunners and struck out 7 batters for the rest of the game.

The Texas Rangers offense fell quietly after Shin-Soo Choo hit his 1st homer of the year on the first pitch of the game. Roughned Odor reached on a 1 out fielding error by Donovan Solano and scored on a Joey Gallo double to give Texas a 2-1 lead. Odor came up with the bases loaded in the top of the 4th.but popped put to end the inning. Texas was just 1-8 with 10 men left in scoring position and had 6 hits on the night, two were doubles. Starter Mike Minor went 5 2/3 innings with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks with 6 runs allowed off 9 hits.
