Smyly still seeking first Spring win

Drew Smyly will take the mound for the 3rd time this Spring today and still itching for his first win. He hasn't recorded a decision in his first 2 starts in a Giants uniform this Spring and has yet to allow a run. He has struck out 4 of the 14 batters he has faced with 1 walk and 2 hits allowed all in 3.2 innings of work. Today he takes on the Indians and last faced them in 2016 and was 0-1 in 2 starts recorded 16 strikeouts in 14 innings. In 17 total appearances (6 starts) the 30-year-old is 2-3 with a 5.33 ERA, as they are hitting .297 off him in his career which includes 6 home runs.

Zach Plesac is also on the hunt for his first Spring Training victory. In his previous 2 starts, he has a 4.15 ERA with 5 strikeouts in 4.1 innings, which includes 2 walks and 4 hits. Plesac, (the son of former major leaguer Joe Plesac and nephew of Dan Plesac) has never faced the Giants. The Indians drafted Plesac out of Ball State University and made 21 starts for the Tribe last season. He tossed 118 innings and struck out 105 batters while having a 4.04 ERA and an 8-6 record.
