Smyly set to make Giants Spring debut

Drew Smyly spent last Spring Training with the Texas Rangers along but this year he is with the Giants. The University of Arkansas alum signed a 1 year deal with the Giants in the middle of January and today will make his Giants Spring Training debut. He was a 4-7 last year with the Rangers and Phillies in 21 starts with a 6.24 ERA. Smyly has never faced the Arizona Diamondbacks during his professional career.

Arizona won't be sending out Madison Bumgarner today against his former team today. Instead, they will send out University of North Carolina alum Zac Gallen who was traded to the Diamondbacks at the deadline last year from Miami for Jazz Chisholm. Gallen has never faced the Giants but was 3-6 in 15 starts in 2019 with 96 strikeouts in 80 innings while having a 2.81 ERA.

First pitch is at 12:05pm
