Smyly looks to help Giants get series split

San Francisco's newly signed left-hander Drew Smyly will make his first start as a Giant this afternoon. He made his season debut out of the bullpen on Opening Day, tossing 1 scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts and 1 walk. The 31-year old has no record against his new NL West rival but has faced them just 2 other times and owns a 2.25 ERA. The last time Smyly faced the Dodgers he was with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2016. He made the start and went 5 innings for a no-decision but allowed 2 runs off 5 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Julio Urias will try to get the Dodgers a series victory before the club heads to Houston. Urias will make his season debut and his second career against the Giants. Overall the Mexico native has a career record of 0-2 in 12 games with 6 being starts against San Francisco with an ERA of 1.36 including 34 strikeouts. Last season Urias was 4-3 in 37 games for the Dodgers with 85 strikeouts in 79 2/3 innings pitched.
