SF rides hot streak, 30 runs in last 4 games

The San Francisco Giants blew out the Rangers for the 2nd straight game and in their last 4 games, they have scored 30 runs. They trailed 2-0 before Mike Yastrzemski walked and Brandon Belt followed suit with a walk of his own 2 outs later in the bottom of the 1sti. Evan Longoria doubled in both runners to tie the game at 2-2. Yastrzemski walked again to open the bottom of the 3rd and Alex Dickersonthrew also walked. Both runners advanced a base when Rangers pitcher Jordan Lyles threw an errant pitch to advance both runners. Donovan Solano continued his hot streak with a 2-run single to give the Giants a 4-2 lead. San Francisco walked the bases loaded in the bottom of the 6th and after a Darin Ruf strikeout, Mike Yastrzemskiwalked in a run, it was his 4th walk of the game. Giants hitters walked 11 times tonight. The Giants had the bases loaded again in the bottom of the 8th when Donovan Solano again knocked an RBI single to push their lead out to 6-4. Brandon Belt walked in a run for his first RBI on the year. Starter Drew Smyly left the game after 4 innings with finger discomfort and allowed 2 runs off 3 hits with 7 strikeouts, he walked 2 batters. Longoria had 3 of the teams 7 hits on the evening. Solano now has a league-best 13 RBIs after collecting 3 more tonight.

The Texas Rangers offense is sputtering along and can't wait for the series finale tomorrow. Elvis Andrus doubled to begin the game and then stole 3rd base. He stayed put after a Joey Gallo walk and then Gallo himself stole 2nd base. Todd Frazier roped a 2-run single to right fielder Steven Duggar to give Texas a 2-0 lead. Texas' offense mustered just 7 hits on the night, 4 singles, 2 doubles, and a top of the 9th solo shot by Scott Heineman. Scott is the brother of Giants catcher Tyler Heineman. The solo shot for Tyler was the 1st of the season for him as his brother still sits at 0. The two swapped jerseys at the end of tonight's game. Jordan Lyles pitched 4 innings of 4 run ball off 3 hits with 5 walks and just 1 strikeout. Texas Rangers pitching allowed 11 walks on the night, including 4 to Mike Yastrzemski.
