The San Francisco Giants was sloppy today as manager Gabe Kapler put odds and ends together to fill a lineup card. Alex Dickerson went on paternity leave as his wife is expected to give birth any day now and Mike Yastrzemski is day to day with a tight calf. The Giants had two men on base in the top of the 4th with 2 outs but Mauricio grounded into a force play that resulted in Donovan Solano being out at third after thinking about going home on the play. The club had only 6 hits on the day, 2 from Donovan Solano all singles and went 1-2 with 5 men left in scoring position. Kevin Gausman was hit with the loss going 6 innings of 1 hit ball and allowed 1 run with 6 strikeouts while walking 3 batters. The Giants are 5-16 against teams above .500 this year.

The Oakland A's pitching staff again blanked the Giants for the 2nd game in a row and are inching closer to their AL West crown. They recorded 2 quick outs in the bottom of the 4th but Mark Canha walked and went to 2nd base on a wild pitch by Kevin Gausman. Matt Olson singled him to make it a 1-0 Oakland lead. Stephen Piscotty got on base with a 1 out single in the bottom of the 7th and then Jake Lamb homered, it was his 2nd homer and 4th RBI since joining the A's last week. Robbie Grossman continued the inning with a walk then Jonah Heim singled Ramon Laureano to 3rd base. Laureano reached when Grossman was out at 2nd base on a force out. Tommy La Stella continued to kill Giants pitching with a triple that bounced off Mauricio Dubois glove to score Laureano and Heim making it a 5-0 game. Marcus Semien doubled to Darin Ruf who also juggled a pop up to score La Stella. The A's also had 6 hits on the day, with 3 extra-base hits, a double, triple, and a homer. Their starter Jesus Luzardo tossed 6 shutout innings and allowed 5 hits with 7 strikeouts on the day.
