SF looks to take season series from Angels

The San Francisco Giants will wrap up their 4 game series with the Angels this afternoon. The clubs both hosted 2 games in their home ballparks over the last 4 days and today Kevin Gausman will not only look for his first win but try to help the Giants win the season series. He has gone 2-3 in 5 starts against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim with a 5.15 ERA totaling 23 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings. His last start against the Angels came when he was with the Orioles in 2018, he got the win going 8 innings and allowed 2 runs off 6 hits with 2 strikeouts and no walks.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will call up Valenezua native Jose Suarez for tonight's start. The 22-year-old left-hander will make his season debut for the Angels after going 2-6 in his rookie season last year. He made 19 appearances (15 starts) and had 72 strikeouts in 82 innings which included a 7.11 ERA with 33 walks against 375 batters faced. Suarez signed as a free agent with the Angels in 2014 and has pitched in 75 career minor league games (66 starts) and has a 3.68 ERA. Due to COVID-19, the minor league season was canceled this year, but for Suarez, he had 362 total strikeouts in 335 1/3 innings of work.
