SF looks to put last nights loss behind them

The San Francisco Giants lost a tough game last night and will look to bounce back with Kevin Gausman on the bump. Gausman threw 6 1/3 innings and allowed 1 run off 3 hits with 6 strikeouts and walked nobody in his no-decision vs the Dodgers last week. Today he takes on the A's for the 5th time in his career and is 1-2 in 4 other starts including 24 strikeouts in 26 innings and a 2.77 ERA. The last time the 29-year-old faced the A's he was with the Orioles in 2018, he had a no-decision going 9 scoreless innings and allowed just 2 hits with 6 strikeouts and walked 2 batters. Oakland walked off the Orioles in 12 innings winning 2-0.

Frankie Montas was a late scratch last night due to upper back tightness. Tonight Sean Manaea will make the start for Oakland. He is 2-1 in 4 starts against San Francisco in his career with a 2.53 ERA. Last season the Indiana State University alum was 4-0 and made 5 starts for Oakland with a 1.21 ERA and struck out 30 batters in 29 2/3 innings of work. The 28-year-old is 0-2 in 4 starts this year having allowed 15 runs (17 earned) with 13 strikeouts in 15 innings.

First pitch is at 4:07 pm
