The San Francisco Giants have added another arm from the Angels recycle bin as they claimed 22 year old pitcher Luis Madero.
Madero was first signed out of Valenzuela to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2013 and spent his 4 seasons in the minors. He was then traded to the Angels for reliever David Hernandez at the trade deadline in 2017. The 22 right hander has yet to break into the bigs after owning a 29-36 record while in the minors with a 4.39 ERA and striking out 421 batters in 471 innings of work.
Jake Jewell will be designated for assignment to create a roster spot after not throwing a single pitch for the club. He was claimed off the Angels waiver wire last week after Zack Cozart was designated for assignment.
