SF can clinch berth with a win and Mil loss

The San Francisco Giants season comes down to a 1 game and if they win and the Brewers lose, the club goes to the playoffs. They are putting Drew Smyly on the hill in the season finale against the Padres for his 1st start against them this year. He faced them out of the bullpen a couple of weeks ago when he returned from the injured list. The Giants lost 6-1, but he pitched 4 innings of relief and allowed 2 runs off 2 hits with 8 strikeouts and walked 1 batter. Smyly has made 1 career start against the Padres and it came back while with the Rays in 2016, he took the win going 7 innings and allowed 1 run off 1 hit with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.

The Padres will send out Adrian Morejon to help them win the series and keep the Giants out of playoff contention. Morejon is 2-2 in 8 games this year (3 starts) with 21 strikeouts and a 4.86 ERA totaling 21 strikeouts. Today he takes on the Giants for the first time out of the rotation and 2nd time this season. He recorded the win in the September 10th 6-1 pitching just 1 2/3 inning with 3 strikeouts and allowed 2 hits. The Padres are 5-3 this season in Morejon's appearances.

First pitch is at 12:15 pm
