The San Francisco Giants struggles with runners in scoring position continued tonight as their bats were quieted in their loss. Mike Yastrzemski doubled with 1 out in the top of the 3rd and then scored on a Donavan Solan bloop singled to give the Giants a 1-0 lead, for Solano the single extended his hit streak to 12 games. The hit streak for Solano is the longest for Giants player since Andrew McCutchen's 13 game streak in 2018. Wilmer Flores added another solo shot to get the GIants closer to the Dodgers 6-2 lead but that was their final run of the contest. Flores had 2 of the teams 8 hits as they went 1-8 with 7 runners left in scoring position. Starter Jeff Samardzija took the loss going 4 innings and allowed 6 runs (5 earned) with 3 strikeouts walked 2 off 7 hits.
Mookie Betts took Jeff Samardzija deep for his 3rd home run in a Dodgers uniform to give LA some life and start a rally. He tied the game with a solo shot in the bottom of the 3rd and Cody Bellinger singled and went to 2nd on a Darin Ruf error. Juistin Turner singled him in to make it a 2-1 Dodgers lead. Max Muncy led off the bottom of the 4th off with a solo shot to add on to the Dodgers lead and after a Chris Taylor single up came Edwin Rios. Rios struck out but WIll Smith homered just past the glove of Darin ruff to make it a 5-1 game. Cody Bellinger was walked to get the bottom of the 5th underway and Justin Turner was hit by a pitch. Enrique Hernandez was also hit by a pitch to load the bases for Max Muncy. He flew out but Chris Taylor grounded into a force out that scored Bellinger to extend their lead to 6-2. Florida International alum Edwin Rios went yard for the 3rd time this season with a solo shot n the bottom of the 8th putting the Dodgers lead out of reach. The Dodgers from the plate weren't nearly as bad as the Giants going 1-10 with 8 runners stranded in scoring position. Starter Julio Urias tossed 4 innings and allowed 1 run off 3 hits with a pair of strikeouts and walks each.
