Samardzija and Giants go for sweep

Jeff Samardzija and the San Francisco Giants are going for a 3-game sweep of the Texas Rangers. Samardzija took the loss against the Padres in his first start of the year last week after lasting 4 innings, he gave up 5 runs off 4 hits while having just 1 strikeout and a walk apiece. He will make his 4th career start against the Rangers today and is 0-2 with 23 strikeouts in 20 innings, with a 6.30 ERA.

The Texas Rangers will try their best at not being swept today by the Giants. Manager Chris Woodward will send out 22-year-old left-hander Kolby Allard. Allard was 4-2 with a 4.96 ERA in 2019 and came to the Rangers in a trade that sent Chris Martin to Atlanta. Today he makes his season debut against the Giants, whom he's never faced, even with Atlanta.

First pitch is at 1:05 pm
