Rivercats rally twice and win 5-4 in extras

The Tacoma Rainiers and Sacramento Rivercats game went to 11 innings Thursday night to give the home crowd excitement on Opening Night. Braden Bishop, David Freitas and Shed Long each had 2 hits on the night for the Rainiers. Kristopher Negron singled in Shed Long to put Tacoma ahead 4-3 late in the top of the 11th. Starter Erik Swanson pitched 5 shutout innings allowing 6 hits with 8 strikeouts. Rivercats right fielder Henry Ramos (Prospect #74 out of 100) had 3 of Sacramento's 11 hits with an RBI on the night. Sacramento rallied from 3-1 to tie the game at 3-3 with a 2-run double from Mike Yastrzemski in the bottom of the 9th. Aramis Garcia tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the 11th and Breyvic Valera doubled in Garcia to win the ballgame for Sacramento. Andrew Suarez tossed 4 innings allowing 2 runs on 6 hits with a pair of walks and strikeouts for the Rivercats.

The San Jose Giants and Richmond Squirrels both won their games today as well.
