Offense wakes up to get victory over LAD

The San Francisco Giants had their bats wake up and help propel them to get their first win of the year. Austin Slater walked to start the game and after a Wilmer Flores ground out, Slater scored on a Darin Ruf single. Mike Yastrzemski doubled opening the top of the 2nd and after 2 walks the Giants had the bases loaded for Donovan Solano. Dodgers pitcher Alex Wood threw an errant pitch that scored Yastrzemski to give the Giants a 2-1 lead but Solano grounded out to end the inning. Wilmer Flores knocked his first home run in a Giants uniform to lead off the top of the 3rd inning and Solano came up with a 2-run double in the top of the 4th to push their lead to 5-1. Giants starter Logan Webb tossed 4 innings and allowed 1 run off 6 hits with a pair of strikeouts and issued 1 walk.

Los Angles Dodgers starter Alex Wood had a quick day at the office, going 3 innings and punched out 4 batters with 3 walks and 3 runs off 3 hits. The Dodgers trailed 1-0 going into the bottom of the 1st inning but after a 2 out single by Cody Bellinger, Justin Turner doubled him in with his 3rd double of the season to tie the game. Max Muncy was drilled by a pitched to start the bottom of the 8th and went to 2nd on a ground out by Cody Bellinger as Justin Turner reached by an error. Corey Seager got the Dodgetrsrs back into the game with a 2-run single to bring the game to 5-3. Chris Taylor and Justin Turner each had 2 of the club's 9 hits on the day. Catcher Will Smith hit his first home run of the season to make it a 1-run game but the Dodgers fell just short.
