The San Francisco Giants have made a minors deal with right handed pitcher Trey McNutt. McNutt was first drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 2009 Amateur Draft. He was later released in 2015 and almost quit baseball but the Padres signed him in 2016 and spent 2 seasons in the Padres farm system. The Shelton State community college alum was then signed by the A's in 2019 and played in the Mexican Pacific Winter League recently. During his career he has never reached the big league level, he has an overall record of 38-26 in 8 seasons in the minors (185 games and 73 starts) with a 3.78 ERA and 408 strikeouts. While recently pitching in the Mexican league, the 30 year old appeared in 12 games and was 1-0 with 20 strikeouts in 13.2 innings with a 0.66 ERA.
