Jerez back in majors as Vincent goes on IL

Nick Vincent was holding his collarbone last night before coming out of last nights ball game. It turns out Vincent has a strained right pectoral muscle and will be placed on the 10-day Injured List and Williams Jerez will be called up from AAA Sacramento.

Vincent signed a minor league deal with the club in March and has seen action in 18 games this year already including 1 start. He is 0-2 with a 5.58 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 30.2 innings of work. The CSU Long Beach alum has been used excessively by Bruce Bochy lately as the Giants bullpen has been hit hard the last few games.

Williams Jerez will make his 2nd stint with the team after being down in AAA Sacramento. Jerez with the Giants this year has appeared in 1 game allowed just 2 walks in the final inning of the Giants 14-4 win over Colorado. While with Sacramento he has been in 19 games for manager Dave Brundage and is 2-2 with a 3.16 ERA totaling 29 strikeouts with just 8 walks. Jerez came over in the trade that sent Chris Stratton to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at the beginning of the season.
