Kevin Gausman is getting more and more familiar with Buster Posey and it's looking like he may have a rotation spot come Opening Day. Gausman had a no-decision today, but pitched 2 shutout innings and struck out 2 batters. San Francisco went ahead early in the top of the 1st with a Brandon Belt single and Buster Posey added a 2-run home run in the top of the 3rd. Posey added another RBI on the day with a groundout in the top of the 5th to extend their lead to 4-2. The club pounded out 15 hits today, which included 2 from Brandon Crawford, Billy Hamilton and Mauricio Dubon, who hit a solo shot in the top of the 6th.

The San Diego Padres took on a divisional opponent for the first time this Spring and came out on top. Their starter Joey Lucchesi tossed 2 innings and allowed 1 run off 2 hits with 1 walk and a pair of strikeouts. His Padres trailed 4-0 going into the bottom of the 4th when Manny Machado walked with 1 out and after a Eric Hosmer line out, newly acquired Padre Jurkson Profar stepped up. Profar took Giants reliever Jerry Blevins deep for his 1st home run of Spring Training to bring the Giants lead to 3-2. Profar was traded from the A's to San Diego at the beginning of December for Austin Allen and a player to be named later. Another new Padre Tommy Pham singled in Franchy Cordero to tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the 5th and an inning later Wil Myers hit a 2-run home run to give the Padres a 6-5 lead. Both teams were a combined 5-22 with 17 runners left in scoring position.

The Shark Jeff Samardzija will make his 2nd Spring Training start tomorrow against Merril Kelly and the Diamondbacks.
