Giants take on Mariners for 2 game set

The Giants are feeling that even year magic, with last nights win and entering tonight's game they are the lucky number 7 seed in the NL postseason standings. Logan Webb will try to continue their recent hot streak with his first career start against the Mariners. Webb is 0-2 in 5 career interleague starts with a 5.57 ERA totaling 17 strikeouts in just 21 innings logged. Overall in 2020 Webb is 2-3 in 8 starts and has 35 strikeouts and a 4.71 ERA with just 2 home runs allowed in 36 1/3 innings.

The Seattle Mariners come into Oracle Park winners of 6 in a row but are 19-22 on the year and out of playoff contention for now. Ljay Newsome will take the mound today and is making his 2nd start of the year after taking place of now traded Taijuan Walker in the rotation. The former 26th round pick of the 2015 draft made his debut 11 days ago after the Mariners and Oakland A's series was postponed after a member of the A's organization tested positive for Coronavirus. Newsome made his debut out of the bullpen for Seattle on August 20th against the Dodgers and tossed 3 innings and allowed 1 run off 3 hits striking out just 1 batter.
