Giants take 1B from Louisville with 51st pick

The Giants selected Logan Wyatt a first baseman from Louisville with their 51st pick in the 2nd round in tonight's MLB Draft.

Wyatt played baseball at Louisville and had just 9 home runs last year with 52 RBIs while hitting .295 in 207 at bats. He also had 11 doubles and 1 triple on the year while having an OPS of .461 and a .473 slugging percentage.

Even though the Giants have Brandon Belt at first base and Buster Posey presumably taking over instead of catching for the rest of his career, Farhan Zaidi's director of amateur scouting Michael Holmes said "the organization isn't worried about doubling up and were trying to acquire as much talent as we can to put into our organization and let things play out the way they do."
