SF 6

The San Francisco Giants bats came out swinging again but their bullpen fell apart late. Logan Webb picked up a no-decision after 5 1/3 innings with 2 runs allowed off 7 hits with 2 walks and struck out 5 batters. Mike Yastrzemski put the Giants ahead early with a 1 out solo home run in the top of the 1st for his 8th dinger on the year. Evan Longoria singled and after Wilmer Flores struck out Darin Ruf singled Longoria to 2nd base. Alex Dickerson came up after his big night last night and singled in Longoria making it 2-0. Joey Bart continued the hit parade with an RBI single for himself that scored Ruf and it looked like the Giants picked up where they left off. Daniel Robertson singled in Dickerson and the Giants hung a 4-0 lead on the Rockies in the top of the 1st inning. Bart reached on an error by Garrett Hampson in the top of the 3rd inning and took 2nd base on a wild pitch by Rockies reliever Chi Chi Gonzalez. Wilmer Flores walked to lead off the top of the 4th and Alex Dickerson hit another double to put Flores on 3rd base. Joey Bart was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Robertson. San Francisco's bullpen blew Webbs decent start off the mound, once he departed they allowed 5 runs off 7 hits with a pair of walks and strikeouts each.

The Rockies wanted the game to be over once it started as their starter Kyle Freeland couldn't slow down the Giants. He was done after 61 pitches and 2 innings after allowing 4 runs off 8 hits with 2 strikeouts and walked 1 batter. He didn't factor in the decision as newly acquired reliever Mychal Givens was the winning pitcher. The former Oriole pitched just 1 clean inning out of the pen and recorded 1 strikeout. Garrett Hampson hit his 3rd home run of the series with a solo shot in the bottom of the 2nd to make cut the Giants lead to 4-1. The Rockies first baseman Josh Fuentes reached first base on a single to open the bottom of the 5th and then was out on a force play. Ramiel Tapia also grounded into a force play but then scored on a Trevor Story double to inch closer to the Giants 4-run lead. Former Giant Kevin Pillar singled with 1 out in the bottom of the 6th and then went to 2nd on a single by Garrett Hampson to bring up Sam Hilliard. Hilliard singled in Pillar and then Josh Fuentes hit a sacrifice to make it a 6-4 Giants lead. Story walked to lead off the bottom of the 7th and Nolan Arenado singled to put him on 3rd. Charlie Blackmon doubled in Story and the Giants lead was trimmed down to 1-run. Kevin Pillar haunted his old team with a triple to give Colorado a 7-6 edge with 0 outs. After Garett Hampson lined out, Sam Hilliard homered to push the Rockies lead to 9-6.
