The San Francisco Giants took the series victory today as well as winning their first one on the road. Johnny Cueto helped the team going 6 2/3 innings and allowed 1 run off 3 hits with 3 walks and struck out 6 batters for a no-decision. The Giants bullpen didn't allow a single baserunner once Cueto left but had 1 guy strikeout. Alex Dickerson crushed his 4th home run of the year with a solo shot in the top of the 1st inning to give the team a 1-0 lead. Their offense was quieted from then on until the top of the 8th when Brandon Crawford singled to open the inning. Wimer Flores doubled Crawford to 3rd base after Mauricio Dubon struck out and then Mike Yastrzemski was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Alex Dickerson came up and singled in Crawford to give the Giants break the 1-1 tie. Evan Longoria also singled but pinch-runner Joey Rickard and Mike Yastrzemski both scored to extend their lead to 4-1. Giants reliever Sam Coonrod recorded his first MLB save.

The Arizona Diamondbacks lost their 10th game out of their last 11 ballgames and are now in last place in the NL West. Eduardo Escobar tied the game with his 4th dinger on the year in the bottom of the 7th inning but that would be the Diamondbacks lone run of the game. He had another hit on the day, a single in the bottom of the 2nd inning as the club finished with just 3 hits total. Starter Taylor Clarke pitched 5 innings and allowed 1 run off 1 hit with 7 strikeouts and walked 1 batter. The team was 0-3 with 4 runners left in scoring position including the tying run on 3rd in the bottom of the 6th but David Peralta struck out to end the inning.
