The San Francisco Giants offense is still looking to find answers after their bats were hot last week. Tyler Anderson was shown the showers early tonight after not duplicating his last start against Arizona. He went 4 2/3 innings and allowed 7 runs off 9 hits with a trio of walks and strikeouts each. The Giants bullpen allowed just 1 walk with 3 strikeouts over the final 3 1/3 innings. Evan Longoria hit his 4th homer of the year in the top of the 6th inning to end the teams scoreless streak. It was one of his 2 hits on the night as the team had 8 on the evening. Donovan Solano and Brandon Crawford singled with 1 out in the top of the 7th inning to start a rally. Joey Bart and Pablo Sandoval both came up and lined out to end the small threat to strand the runners. Brandon Belt tripled to open the top of the 9th for his 1st one on the year. Wilmer Flores doubled Belt in to score as the inched closer to Arizona's lead. Brandon Crawford came up swinging and hit a 2-run homer to make the game interesting and inched closer to the Diamondbacks 7-4 lead, it was his 2nd hit of the game. The club was 2-6 with 5 runners left in scoring position this evening.
The Arizona Diamondbacks finally helped their starter Zac Gallen record his first win of the year. Gallen pitched 7 innings and allowed 1 run off 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and walked 1 batter. Arizona was off and running in the bottom of the 1st with a 1 out ground-rule double by Ketel Marte and Starling Marte singled him in to make it 1-0. Carson Kelly had a ground-rule double himself in the bottom of the 3rd inning, and after Time Locastro singled, Ketel Marte was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Christian Walker hit a 2 out sacrifice fly to give the Diamondbacks a 2-0 lead and then David Peralta singled in Locastro to extend their lead. Locastro walked and Ketel Marte singled him to 2nd base and Starling Marte singled in Locastro to make it a 4-0 game. Christian Walker singled in Ketel Marte and then Starling Marte scored off a pick-off attempt by Giants starter Tyler Anderson as the Diamondbacks lead was up to 6-0. Tyler Anderson threw an errant pitch as Christian Walker advanced to 2nd and then Nick Ahmed doubled him in with his 6th double of the year. Both Marte's had 2 hits on the night as the team was 6-12 with 6 runners left in scoring position. The win snapped the club's 8 game losing streak.
