GAME 1 preview:
The Giants had a positive COVID-19 test in their organization Friday night, the result was a postponement of Friday and Saturdays game. Today they will take part in their second doubleheader of the season which will be two-7 inning games. It was sad to see their 5 game winning streak snapped Thursday, but they look to regain momentum and start another streak today. Johnny Cueto takes on the Padres for the 2nd time this season tonight after taking a no-decision in the Giants win on July 29. In that game, Cueto threw just 3 2/3 innings while allowing 4 runs off 4 hits with 3 walks and struck out 4 batters. The Giants won 7-6 on a Mike Yastrzemski walk-off homer in the bottom of the 9th, for his 2nd home run of the game. Cueto is 8-4 with a 3.53 ERA in 16 career starts against the Padres totaling 104 strikeouts.
Mike Clevinger will get a look at the San Francisco Giants for just a second time in his career. Today he will make his 3rd start as a Padre since being traded at the trade deadline. He came over in a deal that sent him, Greg Allen and a player to be named later to San Diego for Gabriel Arias, Joe Cantillo, Owen Miller, Austin Hedges, Cal Quantrill, and Josh Naylor all to Cleveland. Before getting traded to the Padres, the Seminole Community College alum was 1-1 in 4 starts with a 3.18 ERA, and now is also 1-1 in 2 starts with a 4.91 ERA. Clevinger pitched 6 innings and allowed 1 run off 3 hits in his last meeting against the Giants, he struck out 7 and walked 2 batters back in 2017.

GAME 2 preview:
Logan Webb will try to get the Giants a win in this series and 2nd game of their doubleheader against the Padres. He has not faced San Diego this season but did face them once last year and went 5 2/3 innings with 1 run allowed off 7 hits with 1 walk and struck out 7 batters. Webb is 2-3 on the season and the Giants are 5-4 in his starts including a win in his last outing against the Mariners. The Giants have yet to win a game in a doubleheader this year and are 0-3, being outscored 15-0.
Garrett Richards will take the mound tonight and hope to give his club a 6th straight win. He takes on the Giants for the first time since 2018 while he was with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Richards pitched 6 innings and allowed 2 runs off 5 hits with 11 strikeouts and walked 1 batter in the 4-3 win. This season the University of Oklahoma alum is 2-2 in 9 starts with 38 strikeouts and a 4.50 ERA. Richards has 13 strikeouts and just 2 walks under his belt in his last 3 starts, the Padres are 5-4 when he takes the mound this season. First pitch is at 4:00 pm
