The San Francisco Giants have struck a deal with the Chicago White Sox that will send talented prospect Luis Alexander Basabe to the Giants for cash. Asabe was first signed by the Red Sox back in 2012 and never cracked into the majors but reached high AA ball. He was dealt to the White Sox with Michael Kopech, Victor Diaz, and Yoan Moncada for Chris Sale in 2016 and again never made it to the majors. In 8 years as a minor leaguer,
Asabe has a .248 batting average with 44 homers and has driven in 257 RBIs, the Valenzuela native has also knocked 40 triples and 104 doubles in just 598 games and 2198 at-bats. The 23-year-old outfielder will report to the Giants alternate training site with a .990% fielding percentage and has made just 10 errors totaling 978 putouts including 10 double plays and 40 assists.
