Giants look to avoid sweep

Johnny Cueto was going to make the start today and help the Giants salvage a win in the series, but Tyler Anderson will get the nod after 3 days rest. He was ejected in the 3rd inning in Thursday's game against the Mariners, He is taking Cueto's spot in the rotation because Cueto is dealing with hip soreness. Anderson pitched 2 innings and allowed 4 runs off 4 hits with 3 strikeouts and walked 1 batter. He takes on the A's today for the first time of his career but Jake Lamb has the best success off him. Lamb is 3-15 with a double, home run, and 4 RBIs in his career.

Mike Minor will be on the mound for the A's as they go for a sweep, a shutout sweep nonetheless. Oakland's starters and bullpen haven't allowed the Giants to score any runs through 18 innings in this series. Minor took on the Giants earlier this season while with Texas and tossed 5 2/3 innings with 6 runs allowed off 9 hits wtih 3 strikeouts and 2 walks in the Rangers 9-2 loss. Minor was traded to A's at the trade deadline for 2 names to be named later. Since that start, he has gone 1-3 in 8 games (7 starts) totaling 38 strikeouts and a 5.25 ERA.

First pitch is at 1:10 pm
