Giants fall in Spring Training opener

The San Francisco Giants fell to their rival Los Angeles Dodgers in their Cactus League opener after the rain cleared. Starter Derrick Rodriguez pitched just 2/3 of the first inning before being pulled and allowed 2 runs off 1 hit with 2 strikeouts and 1 walk. Mauricio Dubon, Joey Bart and Ryan Howard all went yard for the Giants. Dubon had 2 of the teams 6 hits on the day. Giants pitching struck out 15 Dodgers on the day including 3 apiece from Matt Carasiti and Carlos Navas.

Tony Gosolin pitched a scoreless bottom of the 1st to get Spring Training underway for the Dodgers. Max Muncy, Enrique Hernandez and Chris Taylor all hit homers off Giants pitchers as LA added 2 runs in the top of the 8th and 9th to secure the win. Both Max Muncy and Chris Taylor had 2 of the teams 9 hits on the day.

San Francisco takes on their Bay Area Rival Oakland Athletics tomorrow with Andrew Suarez going against Mike Fiers.
