The San Francisco Giants roster shake ups were jumbled again today when San Francisco claimed reliever Burch Smith from the Brewers.
The Giants designated reliever Ryan Dull for assignment to make room for Smith and sent Conner Menez back to AAA Sacramento.
Dull appeared in 2 games for the Rivercats pitching just 3 innings and allowed 2 homers with 3 strikeouts and a 9.00 ERA.
Smith joins the Giants pitching carousel and will report to Sacramento tonight. He was drafted by the Padres in 2011 after the Indians drafted him twice and he didn't sign. He was then sent to the Rays in the trade that sent Wil Myers to the Padres. Smith was then drafted by the Mets in the rule 5 draft and was traded to the Royals for a player to be named later. The Howard College alum took on Free Agency and signed with the Brewers this year.
Overall in his career, the 29 year old right hander is 2-10 in 55 games (13 starts) with a 6.87 ERA totaling 137 strikeouts in 127 innings of work.
