The San Francisco Giants have claimed outfielder Jose Siri from the Mariners and transferred catcher Aramis Garica to the 60-day injured list. Siri was in Mariners camp and played in 8 games and hit .200 with 1 homer and recorded 1 RBI with 6 runs scored. He will report to the Giants minor league camp. Siri was designated for assignment by the Reds in January and the Mariners picked him up a week later. While in the Reds organization, the 24-year-old Dominican Republic native hit .254 with 68 home runs and drove in 270 RBIs which included 98 doubles and 54 triples.
He has yet to break into the majors but did hit .293 with 24 homers as a 22-year-old which made him the top prospect on the Top 100 list.
