The San Francisco Giants have claimed yet another outfielder from the Baltimore Orioles. Joey Rickard was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Wednesday and the Giants claimed him and transferred reliever Nick Vincent to the 60 day Injured List.
Rickard was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2012 draft but didn't sign and then was drafted by Baltimore in 2015. He spent 4 years with the Orioles and hit .245 with 19 homers and 67 RBIs including 3 triples and 45 doubles. In the outfield he has seen action at every position and carries a fielding percentage of .990% with 4 double plays turned and just 5 errors to go with 461 put outs.
He is the 2nd outfielder claimed by the Giants off the Orioles waiver wire, as Mike Yastrzemski was the first. The Giants also claimed infielder Breyvic Valera at the beginning of the year but was designated for assignment and then picked by the New York Yankees.
San Francisco transferred Nick Vincent to the 60 day injured list in a corresponding roster move, he has been on the IL since May 28th.
