Giants call up Adames, Gerber; DFA Joseph

The San Francisco Giants are calling up a couple minor leaguers and designating one. The news comes just 3 days before the Rivercats play in the AAA Championship against the Columbus Clippers. The Rivercats won their PCL Championship last night after sweeping the Round Rock Express.

Mike Gerber returns to the club after spending the last 5 months with the Rivercats and hit .308 with 26 homers and drove in 83 runs. Gerber was claimed off the Tigers waivers during the Winter.

Cristian Adames will make be called up to the Giants for the first time this season. He signed a minor league deal in the middle of July and hit.263 with 6 home runs and had 25 RBIs including 2 triples and 12 doubles.

Corban Joseph is the unlucky one here, being DFA'd after spending just a week and a half with the Giants. Joseph was DFA'd by the A's on September 1st then the Giants claimed him 2 days later and appeared in 8 games for San Francisco and hit .063 in16 at bats with 2 RBIs and 6 strikeouts along with 1 walk.
