Gausman to see Padres for first time

Kevin Gausman will make his first start as a member of the Giants, aside from 5 he made over Spring Training. Gausman appeared in a game during the Dodgers series, going 4 innings in relief and allowed 2 runs (3 earned) while striking out 2 batters. The LSU graduate has made 154 starts in his career and this will be the first appearance of his career against the Padres. He was 3-9 last season for the Braves and Reds in 31 games (17 starts) with 114 strikeouts in 102 1/3 innings collecting a 5.72 ERA.

The Padres will put Dinelson Lamet on the bump to get them back into the win column after they were walked off last night. Lamet took the win in the second game of the season going 5 innings and allowed 1 run off 5 hits with 8 strikeouts. Tonight the Dominican Republic native will face the Giants for only the 3rd time and is 1-1 in his previous 2 starts. He has pitched a total of 11 2/3 innings against his NL West rival with only 3 walks to 16 strikeouts while having a 3.09 ERA.
