Davis gets the call as Moronta goes on IL

Jaylin Davis finally got the call he had been waiting for ever since he joined the Giants in a trade with the Twins at the deadline. Davis had been down in AAA Sacramento and was hitting .333 with 10 homers and 27 RBIs including 6 doubles in 107 plate appearances. Davis was acquired along with RHP Kai-Wei Teng and RHP Prelander Berroa for Giants reliever Sam Dyson.

For Davis, this is his first time being called up to the big leagues in his career and will be in the starting lineup tonight against the Cardinals.

Sadly Moronta will have start his offseason now as he goes on the Injured list with a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. He will be done for the rest of the season and appeared in 56 games for the Giants with a 2.86 ERA totaling 70 strikeouts in 56.2 innings and a 3-7 record. Moronta first signed with the team as an amateur free agent in 2010.
