Cueto takes the ball in game 3

Johnny Cueto made it past the Trade Deadline without being traded and proceeded to make his first start against Arizona. He tossed 6 2/3 innings and allowed 1 run off 3 hits with 3 walks and struck out 6 batters for a no-decision but the Giants won 4-1. In his career, Cueto is 11-3 with a 3.03 ERA in 17 career starts vs. Arizona. Overall he is 2-0 in 8 starts this year, at home Cueto has a 6.20 ERA with 23 strikeouts which opponents have hit .241 off him while the Giants are 5-3 when he gets the start.

Alex Young will take the ball for the Diamondbacks today. He was replacing Bumgarner while he was on the injured list and has made 11 appearances this year. He has made 4 starts and has a record of 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA with 28 strikeouts. Last season, the TCU alum was 7-5 in 17 games for Arizona which included 15 starts and struck out 71 batters while having a 3.56 ERA. Young has yet to face the Giants this season but was 2-1 last year with only 11 strikeouts in 15 1/3 innings of work and a 4.11 ERA.
