Cueto back, Jerez DFA'd

The San Francisco Giants announced today that reliever Williams Jerez for assignment and Johnny Cueto comes off the injured list to take his roster spot. Jerez was acquired at the beginning of the year in a trade that sent pitcher Chris Stratton to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on March 26th.

Jerez was 1-0 in 6 games for the Giants this year totaling 4 strikeouts in 6.2 innings and had a 2.70 ERA. He spent more time down with the AAA Sacramento Rivercats, appearing in 47 games going 4-4 with an ERA of 3.86 and had 61 strikeouts.

Johnny Cueto will come off the injured list after having Tommy John surgery and will make the start tonight against the Pirates.
