Crawfords slam carries Giants over A's

The San Francisco Giants offense finally went off and they escaped Oakland with a win. Luis Alexander Basabe walked with 1 out and stole his 2nd base of the year in the top of the 3rd inning. Chadwick Tromp homered to left field to give the Giants a 2-0 lead for thier first runs of the series. Brandon Belt singled in the top of the 4th to open it up and Darin Ruf homered him in with his 5th on the year as the Giants went up 4-0. Brandon Belt and Darin Ruf both walked to lead off the top of the 6th and then Maurion Dubon singled with 1 out to load the bases for Brandon Crawford. Crawford launched his 4th career grand slam on the first pitch he saw as the Giants extended their lead to 8-0. it was his first grand slam since May 16, 2015 against the Reds and before that was in the NL Wild Card against the Pirates in 2014. The Giants had the bases loaded again in the top of the 7th with 1 out and Mauricio Dubon walked in a run to make it a 9-2 game. Once again they had the bases loaded in the top of the 8th with 2 outs and Darin Ruf came to the plate. Already homering earlier in the game, Ruf singled in Austin Slater and Daniel Robinson to push their lead to 11-2. Mauricio Dubon singled to lead off the top of the 9th and Brandon Crawford doubled him to 3rd base with Luis Alexander Basabe hungry for his first career RBI. Basabe singled to score Dubon and then Chadwick Tromp came up singling in Crawford for the club's 13th run of the day. Brandon Belt also came up in the top of the 9th with the bases juiced with 1 out and he grounded into an RBI ground out. Tromp had 3 of the teams 15 hits as five other Giants players had 2 apiece. Darin Ruf and Brandon Crawford each had 4 RBIs on the day. Tyler Anderson pitched 5 2/3 innings with 2 runs (0 earned) allowed off 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and walked 4 batters for the win. San Francisco's bullpen allowed 2 baserunners in the final 3 1/3 innings with 1 strikeout, Ramon Laureano was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the 9th and Sean Murphy singled. The win finished the Giants road games for the season as they went 10-17 away from Oracle Park.

The Oakland A's could've clinched their AL West crown with a win but instead, their bats were quieted on the day. They trailed 8-0 going into the bottom of the 6th when Marcus Semien reached on a Brandon Belt error and then Mark Canha singled to continue the inning. Matt Olson struck out and Stephen Piscotty lined out as Khris Davis then walked to load the bases. Newcomer Jake Lamb continued his hot streak since coming to the A's with a 2-run single to make a small dent in the Giants lead. The A's had just 5 hits on the day, all singles, and were just 1-8 with 8 runners left in scoring position. Starter Mike Minor pitched just 5 innings and allowed 6 runs off 4 hits with 8 strikeouts and walked 3 batters.
