The River Cats face what could be their only true “must win” of the season, it is safe to assume that they won‘t have the same magic as the 2012 Giants with their back against the wall in Vegas, if they need to win 3 in a row.
Tonight at Raley Field is critical, down 0-1 in the PCL Semi Finals vs the Las Vegas Aviators (Oakland Athletics) the Cats must win to force a game 4 Saturday in this best of 5 series.
In walking around the stadium, the feeling is pretty somber, many fans questioning the poor timing of the call ups from the Cats to the Giants. Shaw, Doubon, Davis to name a few. The bats were on fire, and last night, crickets.
If the Cats want another game here in West Sacramento they have to muster more than 3 runs over 8 hits in game 2. At the same time the pitching staff needs to hold their own as well, giving up 9 runs on 8 hits in last nights game.
Tonight’s game aside, it is sad to see the lack of support from fans at Raley Field. For the first time since 2012 and for the first time as the affiliate of the San Francisco Giants the River Cats are in the post season, and the fans don‘t seem to care.
Could it be the weeknight game and early starts (6:35 pst) or is it the recent demise of the Giants that have taken the wind out of the sails here in Sacramento? We may never know, but I hope that if the Cats can channel that 2012 magic, more fans come out to support their club
