Beede set to have Tommy John Surgery

San Francisco left-hander Tyler Beede will miss the 2020 season and at least a few months into the 2021 season. The Vanderbilt alum will have Tommy John Surgery after being diagnosed with a UCL sprain and a flexor strain during Spring Training. Beede was 5-10 in 24 games (22 starts) last season with a 5.08 ERA and totaled 113 strikeouts.

He was primed to be either the 4th or 5th starter for the Giants and their rotation this year. His Spring Training was off to a great start, tossing 3 shutout innings while allowing only 1 hit with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks. San Francisco now has narrowed their list to a few pitchers to take his spot including Derreck Rodriguez, Logan Webb, and even Trevor Cahill.

Rest up Beede and have a speedy recovery!
