Baragar set to make opener start

Caleb Baragar will make his first start of the season, but as an opener in tonight's game. The 26-year-old left-hander has come out of the pen for the Giants 21 times this year and is 5-1 with a 4.58 ERA totaling 15 strikeouts. Last year he was in the Giants minor league system and appeared in 28 games and made 26 starts with a record of 5-6 with an ERA of 3.57 which included 135 strikeouts. He won the MVP of the postseason as the Sacramento Rivercats took home the championship trophy. Baragar has faced the Rockies 4 times this year with a 4.91 ERA but in only 3 2/3 innings of work and the Giants are 12-9 when he makes an appearance.

The Rockies will give the ball to 24-year-old right-hander Ryan Castellani for his 9th start of the season. Castellani has appeared in 10 games for Colorado this season and is 1-3 with a 5.59 ERA and has 24 strikeouts in 38 2/3 innings. He has faced the Giants just once this season and had 2 strikeouts in 2 innings in the Rockies 9-6 win on September 2nd. Colorado is 3-5 when he takes the mound as a starter and 4-5 overall.
