Tyler Anderson not only won his first game in a Giants uniform, but he also fueled himself to his first career complete game. Anderson allowed 1 run off 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and walked nobody. The Giants had the bases loaded again in the bottom of the 1st and Brandon Belt grounded into a double play. but Mike Yastrzemski scored to give the Giants a 1-0 lead. Brandon Crawford walked to lead off the bottom of the 7th with the game tied at 1-1 and Joey Bart doubled him to 3rd base as Mauricio Dubon pinch hit for Steven Duggar. Dubon walked to load the bases with 0 outs and then Mike Yastrzemski walked to give the Giants a 2-1 lead. Alex Dickerson also walked to push their lead to 3-1 as they coaxed 8 walks on the night, and the club had 3 players with at least 2 bases on balls for the night. Donovan Solano roped a hard ground out to the third baseman Eduardo Escobar, but Dubon scored on the play to push their lead to 3 runs. After a pitching change, Brandon Belt stayed hot with an RBi single to score Yastrzemski and the Giants were up 5-1. The Giants have now won 5 games in a row.
The Arizona offense was shut down once again and now hold a half-game lead over the Giants for 4th place in the NL West. They trailed 1-0 in the top of the 6th and Kole Calhoun was hit by a pitch with 2 outs to start a rally. Ketel Marte came up and lined out to Mike Yastrzemski who made a spectacular catch over his shoulder and almost ran into the right-field wall to keep it a 1-0 lead. Starling Marte reached on an error and stole his 4th base after Christian Walker flew out. David Peralta singled in Marte to tie the game at 1-1. The Diamondbacks had 3 hits on the night with two being doubles by Ketel Marte and they were 1-6 with 4 men left in scoring position. Their starter Zac Gallen pitched 6 innings and allowed 1 run off 3 hits with 4 walks and struck out 6 batters.
