All Bay Area Spring Training match-up

The San Francisco Giants would like to put yesterday's loss behind them but the team is ready for Mike Friars and the A's today. Andrew Suarez will take the hill today and split time with the Rivercats and Giants last year but was more productive with Sacramento. While in the majors last year he went 0-2 in 21 games along with 2 starts with a 5.79 ERA. The University of Miami alum faced the A's once last year and struck out 1 batter in the Giants 9-5 loss.

Mike Friers will take the mound today for Oakland in their Spring Training opener. Friers was 15-4 in 33 games last year for the Athletics, owning a 3.90 ERA and totaled 126 strikeouts. The 34 year old right hander is 0-3 in 4 games against the Giants in his career, but during the regular season and last faced them in 2015 while with the Brewers. He took the loss going just 5 innings and allowed 2 runs off 8 hits with 1 walk and struck out 6 batters.
