1B/outfielder Ruf signs AAA deal with SF

The San Francisco Giants have struck a minor league deal with former Phillies first baseman and outfielder Darin Ruf. Ruf had spent the last 3 seasons in the KBO with the Samsung Lions and hit .313 with 86 homers and totaled 350 RBIs including 6 triples and 105 doubles. He was first drafted to the Phillies in the 20th round in the 2009 June amateur draft out of Creighton University.

While spending 5 seasons with Philadelphia, the 33 year old hit .240 with 35 homers and knocked in 96 RBIs in 737 at bats. The Phillies traded him to the Dodgers in 2016 for Howie Kendrick and Darnell Sweeney but was then released just 3 months later. In Ruf's minor league career, he has logged more than 2431 at bats over a 6 team span with 95 homers and 414 RBIs and an .868 OPS.
